Healthwatch North and West Northamptonshire and Carers’ Voice want to know your experiences of caring during the coronavirus pandemic

Posted on 13th January 2021

During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic there have been many changes to health, care and support services, which will have affected those who provide informal (unpaid) care to family and friends. Healthwatch North and West Northamptonshire, Carers’ Voice Northamptonshire and Northamptonshire Carers would like to know about your experiences.

When Healthwatch Northamptonshire asked people to tell them about their experiences of health and care services during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic earlier in 2020, they became aware of some of the extra difficulties and challenges faced by those who provide unpaid or informal care for their loved ones.

Together with Northamptonshire Carers and Carers’ Voice Northamptonshire, Healthwatch North and West Northamptonshire would like to find out more about the experiences of those who have been providing unpaid care since March 2020.

Report highlights how people’s experiences of health and social care services in Rutland differed from neighbouring Leicester and Leicestershire, during the Covid-19 lockdown

Posted on 16th September 2020

During the height of the Spring 2020 Coronavirus lockdown, between late April and early June, Healthwatch Rutland were asking the public across Leicester Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) to tell them about their experiences of health and care support.

Many changes, made very quickly in March and April, substantially affected people’s access to health and care services. To name a few, these changes included: closure of Urgent Care Centres in Oakham and Melton Mowbray; cessation of planned procedures and hospital clinics; protocols for rapid discharge from hospital; and how to access appointments at GP surgeries. In a joint survey from Healthwatch in Rutland, Leicester/Leicestershire and the LLR Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG), the public were asked to share how they were finding the changes. The CCGs published the LLR-wide findings in their July report.

135 people from Rutland shared their thoughts and Healthwatch Rutland’s latest report “Experiences of health and care in Rutland during the Covid-19 lockdown” compares similarities and differences to people’s experiences in neighbouring Leicester and Leicestershire.
